Check out some key information about the Transition to Blackboard Ultra:

For all users:

What is ALICE Original Experience?

Blackboard Learn, the product that is used for the Learning Management System (LMS), has two platforms. One is the Original Experience, which is the format being used in all courses since 2018.

What is ALICE Ultra Experience?

A new modern platform is also available which is called Blackboard Learn Ultra Experience. ALICE Ultra will use the new look and feel to take advantage of the new LMS features.

Who will be participating in the transition?

All new intakes starting in January 2025. On-going cohorts are not affected.

Do I need a new account?

No. Ultra runs simultaneously on the same site. Both Ultra and Original courses can be accessed at the same time. If you are part of an on-going cohort, you will not be affected by Ultra.

I might have other concerns in the future, how do I voice out these concerns?

Send all concerns and questions to the LTS via their support email alice@aim.edu

For student users:

I want to get more help on how to use Ultra, where can I view more resources?

You can check the resources here: https://go.aim.edu/ultrahelp4students

You can watch videos here: https://go.aim.edu/ultra4students

For staff users:

How do manage my Ultra class?

Your Ultra classes and other Original classes will be accessible simultaneously in ALICE.

Are the features in Ultra similar to Original?

Yes, most features are retained, but they would look different from the Original.

For faculty users:

How do teach in my Ultra class?

Your Ultra class and other original classes will be accessible simultaneously in ALICE using the same account.

Do I need to teach my students how to use ALICE Ultra?

You don't need to teach students how use the new platform. Resources will be provided for them. If any of your students need additional help, please forward their concerns to the LTS via the email alice@aim.edu

Can also use Ultra in my other courses?

Currently, there are no plans to implement this. It is important to prioritize the students' preferences and also consider the voice of the minority population who may not perform well with a transition.
